The project management simulation, Milestone, focuses on the people side of Risk, Cost, Quality and Schedule. The simulation helps students understand the balance between those typical project metrics.
Players must make decisions around risk strategies and project support activities.
The simulation is applicable for any course that has initiatives and implements them such as engineering, psychology, business/management, law, science, information technologies.
The simulation comes with live agent support, user manuals and a video.
The simulation is designed as an activity within a course and can be completed within 90 minutes.
Each player attempts to optimize stakeholder sentiment, budget and quality of the project
Players understand the initiative as a set of interrelated decisions. Risk and management activity choices impact game metrics.
Players will gain an understanding of the connection between stakeholders, project controls, risk, budget, and quality.
Players will manage 5 different types of projects: IT, Psychology, Construction, Social events and Business.
Players don't need a detailed understanding of the tasks of each project in the simulation.
All the simulations have web based user interfaces for professors and students.
The games come complete with a composite game score and individual grade component scores.
User manuals for students and professors are available including syllabus ideas. Professors also have access to powerpoints on the game and the concepts within the game.
"The enjoyment and value of this simulation for me was knowing there are more of these learning by gaming simulations in existence. I feel this is a much underestimated high impact form of learning when done effectively and will become a normal and regular part of academics in the future. "
